Trailside Museum Associate

Summary of Position:

This Miller Fellowship position is for students who love the outdoors and enjoy interacting with people.  The museum associate gets to play a role in teaching visitor about the natural and historical resources of Glen Helen. The primary responsibilities of the specialist are to educate visitors on the importance of Glen Helen Association membership as well as making sure that they know how to do their part to care for the environment.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Open/close Trailside Museum
  • Greet and welcome visitors to Glen Helen
  • Inform visitors of membership drive and importance of membership
  • Answer routine Glen Helen/interpretive questions
  • Accumulate visitor sign-ins
  • Handle gift shop sales within Trailside Museum
  • Working alongside Trailside volunteers and other Glen Helen staff
  • Additional marketing/education responsibilities, as necessary
Term:

Job skills required: 
Prior experience in public relations or sales preferred
Naturalist/interpretive training a plus
Marketing and Education Specialist must possess outstanding communication skills
Must be able to work well with a broad range of people, and with minimal supervision
Weekend, as well as evening work may be required
