Biology II

Catalog Description

This course is the second course in the area of biology. Its focus is an introduction to organismal and population biology. The course covers the study of organisms, emphasizing morphology, physiology, behavior, ecology, and evolution of whole organisms and populations. There is a lab requirement for the course.

Course Overview

This is a fundamental biology course. The main objective is to understand the conceptual and fundamental knowledge that are applicable to understand the more complex or higher levels and specialized fields of biology.

The basic learning outcomes for the course are as follows:

  • Understand various theories of evolution of life and in detail know the Darwinian view of evolution of life.
  • Learn the concept of origin of species.
  • Know about the Prokaryotic evolution.
  • Gain knowledge of Plant morphology and diversity.
  • Know animal diversity, population trends and estimations
  • Learn animal behavior and environmental impact on them.
  • Finally, understand the organism behavior, morphology, evolution of species at population, and community level and patterns governing the animal density in an ecosystem.
