Resident Assistants

Residents Assistants for Summer Quarter, 2014Residence Life believes that negotiating living within a community of peers is an essential skill and valuable aspect of the residential college experience. In no other community do students have the opportunity to participate so wholly in a social environment as diverse and intentional as a residence hall. The interactions that students have in their residence hall will enhance their personal, social, and academic outcomes as students begin to navigate the sometimes challenging and always engaging relationships that form in the halls.

Resident Assistants (RAs) work with the Office of Residence Life to facilitate experiences that will ensure that students reach these intended outcomes and support the holistic development of students.  As community leaders, Resident Assistants (RAs) are some of the most well-recognized and respected student voices on campus. Therefore, it is expected that RAs conduct themselves with integrity and honesty in all of their actions including abiding by the honor code and representing the Office of Residence Life in a positive & effective way.

The Office of Residence Life is looks for mature, responsible and imaginative students who can give evidence of their ability to work successfully with their peers in one-on-one and group situations. RAs are committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all students.

The position of Resident Assistant is one that is demanding of time and energy. RAs develop as leaders, mediators, peer mentors, advocates for social justice and professionals. They are supervised by Resident Life Managers and employees of the Office of Community Life. Hiring begin early Summer Term every year.
