Glen Helen Ecocamp is a special summer camp experience...

where campers make discoveries in nature...

explore the native ecosystems...

go on adventures into the forest...

and learn about the animals we share our planet with!

Campers enjoy the many activities planned for the camp of their choosing:

Frontier Ohio campers make candles dressed as pioneers.

Fossil Hunters find fossils and get to take them home!

Survivor Camp learns to build fires.

EcoArt uses nature to inspire painting.

Rock Stars makes rock candy.

Aqua Explorers learn to catch and identify aquatic bugs.

Other camp activities, such as games...

cooperative activities...

baking...

cook-outs...

and singing songs

also make Ecocamp a blast!

Naturalists who lead the camps are well-loved by campers.

They teach campers about the outdoor world...

lead explorations...

and share their passion for nature.

Dorm Counselors, who supervise campers in the dorms...

and lead other fun activities...

are also awesome!

Come to Glen Helen Ecocamp for summer fun...

to make new friends...

or to share with a friend you already know...

to laugh and jump around...

to hang out with kids your age...

to be goofy...

and to see cool things in nature!

We can't wait to see you this summer! Register today.

Imagine a summer camp where you can have fun while learning about the natural world!

Ecocamps are an exciting alternative to recreational camps and offer a quality outdoor experience. Camps last five days, and are lead by trained naturalists. Campers spend much of their time participating in theme-related activities with their group.

Naturalist Instructors

College age or older, our Naturalists are selected for their knowledge in the camp's educational focus and their sensitivity, creativity and enthusiasm for working with children. Many Naturalists have previously participated as Naturalists in Ecocamp or our Outdoor School program.

Location

The Outdoor Education Center is located in Glen Helen, a beautiful 1,000 acre nature preserve with over 20 miles of hiking trails, winding over waterfalls, through forests and to the famous Yellow Spring. Glen Helen is the legacy of Hugh Taylor Birch, who gave the wooded glen to Antioch College in memory of his daughter Helen, so that it would stay protected. Today, that mission is carried forward by the Glen Helen Ecology Institute, which manages the land and coordinates the educational programs of "the Glen."
