Watching a rehabilitated hawk or young owl fly free for a second chance at life in the wild is a wonderful experience! The Raptor Center schedules special events, such as releases, tours, photo opportunities, and close-up introductions of the birds throughout the year.
2012 UPCOMING EVENTS
Earth Day Program and Hawk Release
Sunday, April 22, 2012, 2:00 p.m. at the Raptor Center
Tour the Center and meet our staff, and enjoy a special program with our raptors. There is a possibility of a hawk release, so check back for updates. Parking is limited, so you may wish to park at the main Glen Helen lot on Corry Street, and walk over. The program starts promptly at 2:00 p.m., so don’t miss it. You may want to bring a blanket or lawn chair.
Owl Program and Release
Thursday, July 5, 2012, 8:00 p.m. in Glen Helen
Four species of Ohio owls will be presented in this program for our Ecocampers and the public. Then young screech-owls will be released to the wild. The program location is across from the Horace Mann Meadow on Bryan Park Road near John Bryan State Park. Parking is available in the meadow. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
Fall Open House
Sunday, October 14, 2012, 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Raptor Center
Staff members will have birds out for close-up introductions and photo opportunities. Visitors will be able to tour behind-the-scenes in our classroom and rehabilitation flight cages. Come by anytime during the Open House. Parking is limited, so you may wish to park at the main Glen Helen parking area on Corry Street and hike over.
