Film and discussion on the life of Bayard Rustin

Sunday, November 18, 2012 - 10:30am
Brother Outsider is an award-winning documentary portrait of Bayard Rustin, an African-American Quaker who was a lifelong activist and strategist and the organizer of the legendary 1963 March on Washington. Yellow Spring’s Little Art Theatre will host a free showing of the film, followed by a discussion led by Dr. Kevin McGruder, Antioch College history professor; Rev. Derrick Weston, director of the Coretta Scott King Center for Cultural and Intellectual Freedom; and Dr. Jim Keen, a Quaker and a former Antioch College professor. The discussion will focus on Rustin’s role as a visionary African American man and his connections to Antioch College and non-violent movements. The event is free, but donations to the Little Art Theater are welcome.
