Lecture: Why a High Tech Society Needs a High Touch Childhood

Lowell Monke, a Wittenberg University professor of education, will speak on the effects of technology on children in the talk "Unplugging Narcissus: Why a High Tech Society Needs a High Touch Childhood," co-presented by Antioch College and Antioch University. Free childcare will be provided for potty-trained children.

Monke is coauthor of Breaking Down the Digital Walls: Learning to Teach in a Post-Modem World (SUNY Press, 2001), and numerous articles examining the role of technology in children’s lives. Monke taught young people with and about computers in schools for twenty years in the U. S., South America and Europe.
