Living the Dream; Creating Our History

The Coretta Scott King Center invites the Yellow Springs community and alumni to join in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

  • 9:30 a.m. — Reception at the Coretta Scott King Center
    • Enjoy some coffee, hot chocolate, pastries plus readings from Dr. King’speeches and music from the civil rights movement.
  • 10:30 a.m. — Peace walk from Mills Lawn Elementary school to Central Chapel AME Church
  • 11:00 a.m. — Central Chapel MLK Day programing, viewing of the presidential inauguration, and lunch
  • 2:00 p.m. - Guest lecture from Dr. Jakobi Williams (location TBA), assistant professor of history at the University of Kentucky
    • Dr. Williams will speak about the legacy of Dr. King and the civil rights movement.
