National Bronze Sculpture Symposium

Tuesday, October 22, 2013 - 9:00am to Saturday, October 26, 2013 - 5:00pm

The National Bronze Sculpture Symposium begins on October 13 with a welcome reception from 2:00-4:00 p.m.at the Foundry site next to the Sculpture Annex (near the Amphitheater and Farm). Please come and welcome the four resident artists. The first week schedule is as follows:

The artists will be working daily from 9:00-12:00pm and 1:00-5:00pm. The public is welcome to visit and observe their process of making three sculptures within the two week symposium that will be cast in bronzethat will inaugurate a Yellow Springs Sculpture Trail.

WEEK 2
Monday, October 21
7:00 p.m. at the Little Art Theater 
There will be a free public screening of the film Wasteland featuring the collaborative work of Vic Munez in his native Brazil.

Tuesday, October 22 
7:30 p.m. in McGregor 113
Scott Sanders, College Archivist, will present a look at the history of Amos Mazzolini and the Yellow Springs Foundries

Wednesday, October 23 
7:30 p.m. at the Foundry site next to the Sculpture Annex
Bernie Carreno, Foundry Chief, will present a demo on making plaster, Rubber and Wax Molds

Thursday, October 24 
7:30 p.m. at the Foundry site next to the Sculpture Annex
Bernie Carreno, Foundry Chief, will present a demo on makingCeramic Shell and Bonded Sand molds.

Friday, October 25 
7:30 p.m. in McGregor 113
Berrnie Carreno will present about the Bronze Pour process.

Saturday, October 26 
6:00 p.m. at the Foundry site next to the Sculpture Annex
There will be a live bronze pour of four sculptures, with a performance by Soul Fire Tribe and West African Drumming

All events are free and open to the public. Come out and interact with the artists and share in this great opportunity.
