Gerald “Gerry” Arthur Cunningham, 88, died May 15, 2010, at his home in Patagonia, AZ. He was born February 17, 1922. Gerry, an inventor and entrepreneur, was preceded in death by his Antiochian wife, Ann Carman Cunningham ’45, and is survived by his children, David, Peter and Penny Cunningham, daughter-in-law Jeanne Richardson, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. › MORE

Margit Heskitt, 90, of Bowling Green passed away on Friday, August 13, 2010. She was born to Carl and Flora (Wilhem) Block in Czechoslovakia. Margit moved to New York during World War II with her family after Czechoslovakia was invaded. Upon coming to America, Margit was going to follow in her father's footsteps and become an architect, but realized that was not her true ambition. Margit enrolled in Wittenberg University, where in 1942 earned her Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education. › MORE

Jane (Schmid) Nordstrom, 89, of Franklin, NY died unexpectedly in Korcula, Croatia on May 12th, 2010 while vacationing with her daughter. Jane was born on February 20th, 1921, and grew up in Orrville, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late William and Lila (Stevenson) Schmid. She graduated from Antioch College in 1945 and went on to pursue a career as a psychiatric social worker at the Rockland County NY Mental Health Clinic, earning her MSW at Smith College in 1966. › MORE

Aug. 6, 2010: Minneapolis Tribune: Richard "Dick" Siegel, age 86, of Minneapolis. Husband, father, uncle, brother, Bwana. Predeceased by parents, Oscar and Celia, twin brother, Robert, and infant son, David. Survived by loving wife, Libby; children, Ellie (Bill Warren), Janet (San Ha), Margie (Scott Horne), and Bill (Lauren Goffen); eight grandchildren; brother David, and several nephews and nieces. Dick was orphaned at age 11 and grew up with his brothers in Mount Vernon, NY. He served in the U.S. Navy as Lieutenant (j.g.) on the minesweeper USS Hopkins in the Pacific during WWII. Attended Antioch College ("heaven on earth" he called it) on the GI Bill where he met and married a coed from Minneapolis, Libby Epstein, in 1949. › MORE

Sue Seely, age 83 of Bellingham, died July 22, 2010. She was born March 9, 1927 in East Lansing, MI to Harlan Murray Hungerford and Sarah Irene Prichard. Sue grew up in Kent, OH, where her father was a Professor of English at Kent State University. She attended schools in Waukesha, WI, and Kent, OH. Sue graduated from Oberlin College with an A.B. in English Literature and Kent State University with a B.S. in Early Childhood Education. Sue worked in Chicago in settlement houses, taught school, and worked as a librarian. She was a foster parent during her first marriage, and volunteered with many charitable organizations. Sue was married to the late John W. Hogarty of Antioch College from 1951-1969. She lived in Yellow Springs and Fairborn, OH and Mesa, AZ. › MORE

auren Berkley Schlesinger (“Laurie”) who attended Antioch for one year in 1962 passed away on May 10th after a fourteen month battle with ovarian cancer. She was 66. At the time of her death, she was survived by her loving husband, Michael (“Mike” class of ‘64) and her children, Charles, Philip and his wife, Karen. In 2005, Laurie and Mike moved to Carlsbad, California from Scarsdale, New York to continue their real estate business plus attempt to retire. › MORE

Before her death Saturday at the age of 76, Faith "Bunny" Crumpacker was at her happiest when adding to the wealth of material that was not only her livelihood, but also the stone upon which she built her reputation. Though the food expert, author and editor left behind countless books and pamphlets about food and cooking before she died of cancer, it was her family that was among the most important elements in her life. Crumpacker, a New York City native, was born Faith Ann Shagaloff in 1933. Raised on Long Island, she graduated from Baldwin High School before attending Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. › MORE
07.27.2010 Obituary: Harold Miller '45
Harold A. Miller, 87, longtime resident of Winnetka, IL, died June 15, 2010. Born and raised in Lansing, Michigan, Hal attended Antioch College, Yellow Springs, OH from which he graduated early in order to enlist in the US Navy in 1942. Hal served as an officer aboard the destroyer escort and sub chaser USS Forster in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific theaters. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946, Hal returned to Antioch College to work as a director of its Co-op Program, placing students in employment positions around the country as part of their education. It was at Antioch in 1946 that he met his future wife Ruth Geitz Miller whom he married in December of 1946. › MORE
