Audrey Gartner (née Joseph), former managing editor of Social Policy Magazine, died May 16, 2010 in New York City. She was 74.
Mrs. Gartner, a teacher, had also served as director of the New York Self-Help Clearinghouse. She was a traveler and gardener who enjoyed crossword puzzles, tennis, reading and cooking.
A Cleveland native, Mrs. Gartner was confirmed and married at Oheb Zedek-Taylor Road Synagogue. She earned her bachelor’s degree in 1957 from Antioch College and her master’s degree with honors from Wellesley College.
Mrs. Gartner is survived by her sons Jonathon and Daniel; daughter Rachel Gartner '83; five grandchildren; brother Hal Joseph; and sister Sheila Joseph-Groynom.
