Patricia Ruth Jette, Ph.D Of Hyde Park, MA passed away unexpectedly on June 20, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconness Hospital in Needham, MA. Dr. Jette survived lung transplant surgery for 15 years and endured various health problems and numerous hospitalizations related to the surgery.
Dr. Jette was born on December 31, 1944 in Neosho, Missouri and spent most of her life in the northeast. She is survived by her brother, David Jette and his wife, Cecile Disenhouse, of Seattle, WA. Dr. Jette attended the University of Massachusetts, Hampshire College, Purdue University and Antioch College. She did extensive teaching, instructing at University of Massachusetts in Boston & in Amherst, Curry College, Southern Connecticut State College, Trinity College, University of New Haven, Yale University, and Purdue University.
She was a volunteer facilitator for Persons with Aids support group in Boston and worked in many Boston area mental health centers including Dorchester Mental Health Center and the Solomon Carter Fuller Mental Health Center. Her one year internship for Harvard Medical School in clinical/forensic psychology was at McLean Hospital and Bridgewater State Hospital.
Dr. Jette established her private practice as a licensed psychologist in the Hyde Park section of Boston in 1985. She provided her services from 1985 until her death and touched many lives with care and compassion. Her life was dedicated to helping and making a difference in the lives of others.
Dr. Jette was interested in local aid programs, collecting food for the Hyde Park Food Bank and providing assistance to Rosie's Place, a women's shelter in Boston. Her care and concern was also extended to animals, homeless and in shelters. She donated generously to various animal shelters in addition to personally finding homes for many homeless animals.
Dr. Jette touched many lives with her compassion and her presence in our lives is a gift we will always be thankful for. A memorial service will be held July 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nichols Laughlin Funeral Home, 34 Oak St., HYDE PARK, MA 02136 (617-361-2410).
