Obituary: Anne Borker Carling '64

Anne Carling (nee Anne Lois Borker) passed away in Vermont Respite House in Williston, VT, on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Anne was born on March 12, 1942, in Newark, N.J., to Sylvia Eisenberg Borker and Arthur Borker. She grew up in Irvington, N.J., and received her BA from Antioch College and master's degrees from Antioch University and St. Michael's College. Anne lived in the Burlington area for over 30 years; for over 20 years, she was a dedicated special educator at Champlain School. She also taught ESL at St. Michael's College and volunteered in a horseback riding program for children with special needs. Anne loved horses and cats, languages and travel, movies, photography, science fiction, walking with friends, cooking, gardening, Lake Champlain, VPR's ""All the Traditions,"" and spending time with her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and her many friends, near and far. Anne is survived by her sister, Susan Borker of Syracuse, N.Y.; son, Nat and daughter-in-law, Ari, of Naperville, Ill.; son, Oliver and daughter-in-law, Cynthia Clarke, of Buel's Gore; and grandsons, Arden and Ira, also of Buel's Gore. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Stephen C. Gregory & Son Cremation Service, Shelburne. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Vermont Respite House, the VNA of Chittenden County, or the American Friends Service Committee
