David (Dave) Huber English, a 47 year resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA died July 19, 2012, of heart failure. David is survived by Jean his beloved wife of 58 years. David is also survived by 3 children, Gary, Michael and Debbie (Bobeck); 6 grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, Jordan, Alex, Brittany and Kyle; and his sister, Nancy (Manfredi). Born November 16, 1931 in New York, David grew up in Laguna Beach, CA. He served his country in the Korean War. He graduated from Laguna Beach High in 1950 and Antioch College in 1954 and earned his MBA from UCLA in 1958. David and Jean married in 1954 and shared a lifetime of adventures. Before retiring in 2002 he had a memorable career as a Labor Relations Executive with the US Postal Service. David was an adventurer and an activist with a generous heart and a passion for life that manifested itself in many ways. He loved his family, friends, travel, the arts, the great outdoors and the garden he nourished and grew in their canyon for 47 years. He climbed mountains, surfed the waves, hiked trails, read fastidiously, enjoyed the symphony, hosted parties and celebrated people. David was devoted to the care and happiness of his wife Jean. David and Jean traveled the world together. They are long time members of the Pacific Unitarian Church and together supported their friends, community and many humanitarian causes. David will be remembered as a man of great passion and generosity who worked hard while enjoying the precious gift of life. The wonderful memories he left behind will be a comfort to all who knew him. The memorial service is August 4, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the Pacific Unitarian Church in Rancho Palos Verdes 90275.
