Connie passed away on August 21, 2012 in Boynton Beach, Florida, her residence for the last 24 years. Connie was born in Marysville, Ohio in 1926 to Herman and Helen Shibler (Campbell). She attended Antioch College, graduating from Ohio State University with a B.S. in Education in 1949. At OSU she met Frederick (Fritz) Pinis of Massillon, Ohio. They dated, fell in love, and within a few months of meeting, Fritz brought her home to meet his parents. They married in Highland Park, Michigan in 1949. Connie taught in Lorain, Ohio before moving to Ypsilanti, Michigan with Fritz and starting a family. Mark was born in 1956 and after moving to Birmingham, Michigan (where Fritz became principal at Adams School), Marci arrived in 1958, Laura in 1963. While raising her children, Connie volunteered in her field of education, especially the American Association of University Women (AAUW), where she attained the Presidency of the Birmingham chapter. Connie acquired her Masters degree and secured a position as a guidance counselor at Ferndale (Michigan) High School where she remained for 14 rewarding years, retiring in 1985. Fritz and Connie enjoyed their retirement in Boynton Beach and the Birmingham area for many years, traveling, playing golf, and enjoying the company of their many friends and their family. After Fritz passed in 2003, Connie had the loving support of her children, grandchildren, and her siblings. Her sister Marcia lived nearby and was a dear companion and caretaker in her last years. Connie is survived by her children and their spouses, Mark Pinis and Pamela Frorer, Marci and Roger Heller, Laura and Eric Simmons; her grandchildren Sy Schotz, Theo Frorer-Pinis, and Emma Li Frorer-Pinis; her sister Marcia McManamay and brothers Michael Shibler and Stephen Shibler.
