Obituary: Joan Pearlman Whipple ’45

March 17, 1924 - February 2, 2013. Resident of Walnut Creek, CA, Joan Pearlman Whipple passed away from complications following a broken hip. She was born in Danville, IL to the late Dr. Louis H. Pearlman and Dorothy Rice Pearlman, grew up in Lafayette, IN, and graduated from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH. She married George Whipple in 1945. Throughout her life she lived in Columbus, OH, West Chester, PA, Wilmington DE, Orange and Victoria, TX, Hockessin DE, Chadds Ford, PA, and, since 2007, Walnut Creek, CA. Joan enjoyed golf, her winters in Sarasota, FL , and was a Life Master bridge player. Joan is survived by her brother, Jack (wife: Elaine) Pearlman of Lafayette, IN and her two sons: Chris (wife: Fran) Whipple of Lafayette, CA, and David (wife: Ritchie) Whipple of Greenacres, WA. Joan is also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, and five great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held at The Heritage Pointe in Walnut Creek, CA on February 22 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
