Charles F. Deem Jr. '76

Charles F. Deem Jr. of Louth Road, Dundalk, MD, died Jan. 3, 2014 of pancreatic cancer at Gilchrist Hospice Care. He was 65. The 1966 Dundalk High School graduate was born to the late Kathryn and Charles F. Deem Sr. in Baltimore. He earned a business and personnel management degree from Antioch and attended graduate school at Troy State University and the University of Southern Mississippi. He had lived in Sacramento, Calif., Biloxi, Miss., Montgomery, Ala., and Millbrook, Ala. He worked at Western Auto for two years and the Baltimore County Department of Public Works for two years before serving in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years as a hospital administrator. He then worked as a military consultant for two years and was general manager at Imperial Mailbox Company for six years. He was a member of the Dundalk Moose and American Legion Post 97. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking and computers and played the baritone saxophone and clarinet. Wife Susan Pacholski survives him, along with son Kevin Deem, daughters Teresa Deem, Gina Lewis and Michelle Prater, stepson Stephen Gump, stepdaughters Darlene Jackson, Rita Maynard and Mary Sal-yer, 14 grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. First wife Virginia Paul of 14 years and second wife Ruby McCoy, to whom he was married for 22 years, preceded him in death. Services were private.
