Obituary: Robert B. Van Lehn ’50

Robert (Bob) B. Van Lehn, died at the end of the day, March 15, 2011. Almost 86, as he was born at home in Uhrichsville, Ohio on March 27, 1925, son of the late Roy B. and Lillian Schneider VanLehn. He served in the US Army, European Theater, during WWII. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Van Lehn '51 and two sons; Kurt and wife, Michelene Chi, and their children, Michelle, Cathy and Reid; Todd and wife, Laura Hasser VanLehn. Bob and Ruth met at Antioch College and spent all their working lives in Yellow Springs; Bob was with Vernay Laboratories, Inc. He enjoyed working with his sons, in his work shop, and with the Presbyterian Church. He especially enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and camping with family, Boy Scouts and friends. He and Ruth moved to Seven Lakes in North Carolina after retiring. There he was active in the West End Presbyterian Church and Sailing Club. Later they moved to River Landing at Sandy Ridge near High Point. A memorial service is being planned for sometime in mid April. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one of our favorite charities, Doctors Without Borders.
