Obituary: Ruth Geitz Miller ’47

Ruth Geitz Miller, 85, longtime resident of Winnetka, died peacefully in hospice, Sept. 19, 2010. She had resided at Bethany Terrace Nursing Centre in Morton Grove, IL for almost two years.

Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Harold A. Miller ’45, who died on June 15 of this year. She was the loving mother of Douglas, Mark (Barbara M. Benedict) and Christina Miller Greulich (Peter); devoted grandmother of Evan Miller Greulich and Amy Christina Greulich.

Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Ruth attended Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio. She was an accomplished classical pianist and lover of beauty, active in gardening and painting at the family summer home on Martha's Vineyard.

Ruth was an active contributor to her community, including serving on the Benevolence Committee and Women's Society at the Winnetka Congregational Church, with the League of Women Voters, and on the Winnetka Caucus.
